Bonk, scrrrrrratch.

I awaken to the unmistakable noise of a forest harpy knocking at my window. Again. That’s the third time this week.

And it’s the single best part of my day.

Yawning, I slide out of bed, cross the room, and open my curtains. Sure enough, a four-foot-tall creature hovers on the other side of the glass, her wings flapping in a steady rhythm. She has the head of a woman and the body of a hawk. Classic forest harpy.

I wave. “Are you here about a wolf pup?” Harpies act tough, but they have a soft spot for a certain baby animal. So do I, for that matter.

She caws. “Yes, I seek a healer.”

“That would be me.” My pulse speeds. I love holding and healing new pups. “Meet you by the front door.”

The harpy frowns, a movement that shifts all the dainty feathers covering her face. “You’re an elf healer?”

Here we go.

This happens all the time. Harpies are overprotective, especially when it concerns a baby version of their favorite animal.

And honestly, this chick should wonder about me.

Stitch is an insta love, fast burn novel. This is book three in the interconnecting Kings Wolves MC series.

This is the fourth book I have read by Emmaleigh Loader, and it is by far my favorite! I have been looking forward to Stitch's book since he was introduced in the first book, Savage. Stitch is a character that keeps to the shadows and has a dark aura. But, he is also fiercely protective of his made family. He is a very intriguing character indeed. His book did not disappoint. 

I loved the dark delve into Stitch's past, and I believe the Riot is a prefect match for his smudged soul. They both have deeply upsetting things happen to them in the past, and their characters were carved from their backstory's. As much as I wanted Stitch to have a sweet love interest, it just would not have fit his character. I think Riot and him have great chemistry and I loved seeing their relationship grow and evolve. They were on each other's wavelengths and like two puzzle pieces that fit perfectly together.

This book is very dark. In fact, it is the darkest out of all of the author's books so far. With that said, please check trigger warnings. If you don' have any triggers, then I 100% recommend this book. It has great  depth, spice, character development, plot and has a perfect mix of dark. Overall, I loved this book and read it within a few hours. I couldn't put it down!

This was my first time reading about hybrid shifters, and it was interesting! Jillian is a wolf shifter, but she wants to be something more. So, when she is bitten by a gator shifter and turned into a hybrid, she feels like her destiny is being set forth. She runs away from home and finds two of her gated mates that are also wolf/gator hybrids. But, when she was bitten she was marked as prey, and her gator self is skittish. Hence, runaway mate ensues. 

I really enjoyed all of the characters. My favorite was probably Danny though. I did feel like the characters could have a bit more depth, but I'm not expecting a ton of character development in a standalone reverse harem book. The guys all had their own set of unique traits and they made up a pretty great harem. I didn't understand the purpose of the heat that Jillian was in though. It seemed like your typical fated mate attraction.  So, that was a bit of an odd addition to the story. 

Overall, I enjoyed this standalone reverse harem. It had spice, paranormal elements and shifters. You don't really need much more in a reverse harem. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a quick and nice read. 

Romy Lockhart writes paranormal reverse harem and M/F contemporary romance. All of her books contain steamy scenes between consenting adults. All of her reverse harems have harem ever afters, and all of her romance novels have happy endings.

Hera sighed. “I’ll need to contact Zeus to get this fixed. Keep an eye on him and I’ll get the security team to move him inside, too.” She left Leto alone with Tommy.

Leto spread her hand on his arm. Unlike when Hera touched him, he felt this contact. Her touch, warm and inviting, seeped into his skin. He looked into her eyes. What’s happening to me?

She smiled and kept her hand on him. “So, here’s the problem. You were cursed. I don’t know how it happened, but you were. I can’t fix it right now, but Hera can.” She stroked his arm. “You’re not dying, but it’s like you’re being frozen.”

The revelation wasn’t very comforting.

“Who hates you so much that they’d curse you?” Her brow crinkled. “I learned the hard way that no one should be punished this way.”

He wished he could tell her the truth, but without his voice, he was helpless.

“I’ll make sure you’re in our suite, so I can keep you company.” She yanked her fingers away. “Sorry. I shouldn’t touch you without your approval.”

I don’t mind. He liked the way she touched him with reverence. Like he mattered. I wish you could hear me.

She tipped her head, then frowned. “When I left you out here, Missy passed me. She had a guy with her. I don’t know him.”

Of course she didn’t. He refused to subject Leto to Duncan. He might be Tommy’s brother, but Duncan was a rotten man. Duncan couldn’t handle not being on top and Tommy couldn’t lose Leto, especially not to him.

“I’ll fix this,” she said. “I refuse to let you stay in the stone. Promise.”

When she said those things, he believed her. He trusted Leto, too. When she smiled, he saw her in a different light. She could be his salvation.

Right now, she was his only hope.

Rory is a young medical student discovering her sexual self. Throughout the book,  she describes how she's feeling about the idea of relationships and how she's had a sexual awakening. She goes into detail about past relationships and why they didn't work. Meanwhile, she is also describing her experience at medical school. 

This book is more about a characters journey than anything. I was expecting a romance book with a dash of plot and character development. But, if I had to describe this book it would be more like it is a character development book with plot and a dash of romance. Rory describes how she wants romance more than how she actually experiences it. This made the story fall a bit flat to me. I did enjoy the details pertaining to her med school experience, because I felt like this brought a fresh perspective to a romance book. But, I was disappointed because I felt like it had so much potential for a great romance, but instead fell into character development instead. 

Overall, I would recommend this book. I did enjoy it, but I was looking for more romance and a HEA between Rory and Amir. The medical school perspective was really cool and unique. 3.5 stars.
